My club, our club, Barwon Heads Football Netball Club

The Barwon Heads Football & Netball Club has always prided itself on being a family club. The players and supporters understand what a great community club we have and enjoy the positive, supportive and caring culture that is intrinsic in our organisation.

The key is the people we have involved and the club has terrific players, volunteers and supporters. Everyone is on the same page and strive for continual improvement on and off the field. The committee should be very proud of what they are achieving.

Reflecting on the club l look at our excellent junior programs and the wonderful coaches and parent helpers. They are guiding our junior players and have key roles in shaping the clubs future. It is so satisfying to see on the football side of things that 34 players on our senior list participated in our Auskick Program and progressed through our junior teams. It is a credit to the club that so many of our junior players continue to be involved as adults.

The Auskick Program commenced in 1994 and our two senior coaches Bobby Wallace and Mitchell Herbison participated in the first group as five year olds. Now as senior players they are playing with many of their mates who also progressed from Auskick.

The club provides opportunities for the youth in Barwon Heads to play football and netball in an environment where strong values of friendship, sportsmanship and respect are modeled and encouraged.

We should take great pride in the fact that as adults our footballers and netballers are demonstrating the qualities that make them well respected people in our community.
