Preliminary Finals Week – Netball

Welcome to Preliminary Finals Week everyone!

What a fantastic achievement that out of our 10 teams to have made finals, only 3 have been eliminated to this point! Amazing effort from everyone! The support each week has been second to none and we can’t wait for a MASSIVE super Saturday down at Drysdale. Each game promises a huge challenge for our girls, who are ready to show the rest of the competition why they deserve to be there.

8.30am 13/U Division 1

First up we have Branchy’s Under 13 Warriors who face up against Ocean Grove in a preliminary final battle of the bridge! The Grubbers won in their first encounter this season and the Heads smashed them last time in a VERY physical game. The girls will need every little bit of support they can to topple the Grubbers and earn a spot in next week’s Grand Final

9.30am 17/U

The Under 17’s are coming off a strong victory to Torquay as they too face up to Ocean Grove this weekend. Throughout the season, The Grubbers have had the upper hand over the Heads having beaten them in both encounters. The girls are ready for a big battle this weekend with the support of the Barwon Heads cheer squad where anything is possible!

12.30pm 17/U Division 2

The Under 17’s face up to the Angelsea Roos in a Preliminary Final clash that promises plenty this Saturday. Both the Roos and the Heads have won one apiece throughout the home and away season and Barwon Heads came away with a very close win in the Qualifying Final. This weekend’s match looks set to be tough as the girls so get along a support the girls.

10.30am 19/U

The Under 19 girls face up to Anglesea this weekend for the second time in 2 weeks. Throughout the season, the Seas won one game and the Gulls took the other. The Heads went down two weeks ago in the first qualifying final and are looking for redemption against a fast finishing Anglesea. This will be a ripping match!

11.30am 15/U Division 1

The Under 15’s gals were beaten last week in their first taste of finals. This week they face up to Queenscliff who have sat below them in 2nd all season. Earlier in the season the girls drew to Queenscliff but in Round 11 they won by 2. It will be a physical tough contest as the girls hope to shake off the first week of finals nerves from last week.

11.30am Division 2

C grade were fighting for 5th position at the end of the home and away season and now that they have made it they are smashing the finals series. With two big wins under their belt they are ready to take on the Tigers to make the Grand Final. In the last round, with the support of lots of spectators the girls pulled a 2 goal win over Torquay. The girls know they can win but they need everyone cheering them on to help them get over the line and into the Grand Final which they well and truly deserve to be in.

12.30pm Division 1

Divison 1 are coming off a fantastic game against Ammos after they fought back from being 11 goals down to force the game into overtime and only just falling short on the final siren. This week they take on Modewarre who they defeated two weeks ago in a pumpin 13 goal victory.  Nothing is certain in finals but the girls are playing some fantastic spectator friendly netball; Hopefully all of their hard work will gain them a spot into the Grand Final to rewrite their history against Ammos.

Kardinia Park – Divison 4

Our superstar Division 4 team come up against St Joey’s this weekend in their first final hoping to qualify for a position in the Grand Final and a week off. Goughy’s team of soldiers have been the team to beat this season and look set to continue their excellent run as they steam roll into the combined BFL/GFL finals series. Having only dropped 3 games for the entire season, this will be a ripping match. Can’t wait to see you guys in the Granny- we’ll all be there

See you all there cheering loud.

Go Heads!
