Grand Finals - Netball

7 teams in Grand Finals over the next 2 weekends

Netball – Grand Final Week

Welcome to GRAND FINAL week!!

What an incredible feat for our fantastic club to have 7 teams in Grand Finals over the next 2 weekends!!! We can’t wait to see everyone down at Drysdale this weekend cheering as hard as they can as we aim to take 7 from 7! This week’s wrap up is below. Go Gulls!

13/U Div 1 @ 8.30am V Portarlington

Our little 13 and Unders have pulled off the unlikely in making a grand final from 5th position! They come up against the Port Demons who they have yet to defeat this season! In their last encounter they let their concentration slip and sadly went down by 4 goals. Putting that aside, this team is a bunch of finals specialists- as they showed last weekend against Ocean Grove after coming from 6 goals down to eventually win! These girls will need plenty of early morning cheering to help them gain the edge over the Dees as they hope to become premiers back to back.

13/U Div 2 @ 9.45am V Geelong Amateurs

Our 2nd Under 13 legends are ready and firing after earning a week off to take on Geelong Amateurs this weekend. The girls have triumphed over the Ammos in all 3 encounters this season. The match will be intense and fast flowing but with a big crowd cheering them on, hopefully nothing will stand in their way as they go for 4 from 4 against the Ammos this season. Go girls!

15/U Div 1 @12.15pm V Drysdale

Kylie’s group of legends face up to the Hawks this weekend in an exciting finale to the 2017 season. These girls finished top of the ladder and beat the Hawks twice throughout the home and away season. In the first semi final, they went down by 2 goals in a flat shaky start to their finals campaign with 2 girls unwell. This week with a full and healthy squad they are ready to deliver a knockout blow to Drysdale. Let’s get around them and get them over the line!

17/U Div 2 @ 1.30pm V Torquay

The remaining 17/U’s face up to Torquay this weekend in a top of the table clash. Torquay have had the measure over our girls in the 3 times they have played this season. However, each and every week these girls look better and better. This will be Colleen’s third granny in a row with a 50/50 win loss record to date. These girls won in a nailbiter last weekend and will need every little bit of support to help them pull their best, and most important, game of the season together against the Tigers. Let’s go girls!

Division 2 @ 12.15pm V Geelong Amateurs

Our Div 2 girls face up to the rampaging Geelong Amateurs fresh from a week off. They have yet to defeat the Amateurs this season as the Ammos go in undefeated and clear favourites. But we all know the Bulldogs story from last year- anything is possible on a sunny Saturday in Drysdale. The girls have had an absolute fantastic finals series, showing they are finals specialists; they will need everything the crowd can give them this weekend to help create the upset of the season

Division 1 @ 1.30pm V Geelong Amateurs

Our Div 1 superstars are also up against the Geelong Amateurs who have had the wood on our girls in their 3 meetings this season. With the margin narrowing in each encounter, our girls will not go down without a fight, and can enter this game with confidence that they are playing well at the right time. Their last meeting in the 2nd semi final went into overtime and this match promises to be just as exciting, hopefully with the result going our way this time. Whatever happens the Div 1 girls can be really proud of the season they have had.

Division 4  Saturday 15th September

After a pumping win over St Joseph’s, Our Division 4 legends advance straight through to the combined BFL/GFL grand final in 2 weeks time at Kardinia Park. Having only dropped two games for the season (due to illness and injury), Goughy’s team looks set to power through to the inaugural Division 4 premiership. Let’s get around them!

See you all there cheering loud. Go Heads!
