Welcome to season 2018

A quick update from BHFNC President Tim Goddard

Welcome to season 2018!

We hope you all had a fantastic festive season and all the best for 2018!

Firstly, let me thank Brett Lewis for his massive contribution to BHFNC. At the AGM in October last year, Brett formally resigned from his role as President and I was extremely proud to be nominated for (and accept) the role of President of Barwon Heads Football & Netball Club.

Brett worked tirelessly for the club over many years in many ways and he has left significant shoes to fill. He has assured us he will continue to be part of the Club and continue to contribute and support the Seagulls. Thankyou Brett for all you have done for our club.

I would also like to thank both Sally Mitchell and Steve Connelly who also decided to hang up their committee boots at the end of the 2017 season. Sally was most recently the Director of Netball and oversaw a very successful season in 2017 with all BHFNC netball teams playing finals. Most recently Steve held the sponsorship portfolio (with Kylie Rawson) and last year was one of our most successful in working with our valuable sponsors. Again, thanks to both Sally & Steve for your contributions to BHFNC over the years.

From a Committee perspective, we recently confirmed the portfolios for the 2018 year and our website has been updated with these accountabilities. A big welcome to George Giles and Peter Debenham who are new members of the BHFNC Committee.

As President, my intent is to leverage and celebrate our rich heritage and ensure our club grows and evolves. Ultimately, our purpose is to provide the best possible environment for members to experience a community sporting club promoting participation, achievement and contribution. We want to be recognised as a competitive, community and value orientated, professional, fun and successful sporting club, equally admired for on-field and off-field achievements.

In January, the focus is on getting ready:

  • Our Senior Footballers and Netballers recently re-commenced pre-season training. There are new faces, “old” faces, with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. For both Netball and Football, it looks like exciting seasons ahead.
  • We are currently establishing our Senior Women’s Football program – the Seagals focus for 2018 is Fun Fitness Football
  • We will have a range of new Merchandise available soon and we are currently finalising our social and events calendar which builds on some of the great fun we had last year
  • Our sponsorship team are currently contacting our valuable sponsors to let them know of the enhanced packages for 2018

I’m really excited by the season ahead and look forward to you joining us on the journey.

Go Seagulls!

Tim Goddard
