2021 PLAYING LIST UPDATE

Barwon Heads is pleased to announce a further 18 contracted players for the 2021 season. A very exciting component of today’s announcement is that in 2020 Barwon Heads had 5 players on the Geelong Falcons list – Charlie Brauer, Archie Hildebrandt, Sam Witherden, Flynn Young and Oli Wiltshire and all these young talented players have signed with the Heads for 2021. Coach Mitch Herbison stated “these young men had a very frustrating 2020 with the NAB League being cancelled and the ongoing uncertainty around the competition. The Geelong Falcons had a very strong squad and with the NAB League going to Under 19 next year, we want to support these 5 players and hopefully they all get another opportunity with the Geelong Falcons. The NAB League is going to be a compressed competition in 2021 with possibly only a 10 game fixture so these players will be available more often for Barwon Heads and we have a big responsibility to both develop and nurture them.”

2019 premiership defender Lachlan “Sox” Slorach is on board as well as the following 5 players who all had senior games in 2019 – Zedekai Copland, Conor McKinnon, Bradley “BJ” Michell, Mick Salmon and Harrison Mitchell.

2019 Colts Captain Max Gumley and promising youngster Declan Clark from Newtown have also committed to the Heads.

Other players to sign on include promising young ruckman Jake Stainsby, small forwards Samual Everett and Nic McMahon and reliable defender Sean “The Menace” O’Leary.

It is also great that Oscar Young is signed and gearing himself for another season where he continues to work hard and improve. Oscar attended the most training sessions in 2020, just edging out vice captain Ned Aulsebrook and was rewarded with a senior practice game appearance.
