2020 SENIOR FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF FINALISED

Barwon Heads Football Club have finalised their 2020 Coaching Staff with pre-season training scheduled to begin on Monday 25th November. Premiership co coaches Troy Mitchell (non playing) and Mitch Herbison (playing) will again guide the Seagulls as they look to defend the 2019 premiership which was famously won over Torquay in September.

The 2020 coaching staff has a couple of new members whilst there has been a shift in responsibilities for others. James Garvey will again be the line coach responsible for our forwards and also work with our ruckmen. Experienced Coach Kane “Sugar” Purcell will join Sam Schaller as dual Midfield Coaches. Recently retired senior player Max Melzer will step into the role as line coach for our defence whilst Andrew Philp will be our Opposition Analyst. Shane McLauchlan will continue in his match day role of overseeing rotations. Both Dave Orchard (Reserves Coach) and Joel Heil (Development Coach) will continue in their roles whilst Tim McIntyre will be a Development Coach working with a number of our young and developing players.

Football Director Brendan Curry stated that “the football department are very pleased with the group of coaches which we have on board in 2020. We are very lucky to have such an experienced, motivated and talented group of coaches to develop, guide and mentor our playing group going forward. We see enormous upside with our players and it is critical to have the best possible group of coaches at Barwon Heads to achieve maximum performances and results.”
