Recruiting news: The Wolf Returns

The Barwon Heads Football Club welcomes home Cameron “WOLF” O’Leary for the 2023 season. The 28 year old O’Leary has played 96 senior games with Barwon Heads, been co captain, won a Senior best and Fairest and been selected in the Bellarine Football League Team of the Year on multiple occasions. In 2022 Cameron had a terrific season for Palm Beach in the QAFL where he played across half forward in 18 games and kicked 28 goals.

Football Director Brendan Curry stated “this signing is so important for our club to welcome Cameron home. He is a very popular player amongst his team mates, coaches and our supporters. His athletic traits are highly valued and will certainly add to our side with his pace, ball winning and decisive kicking. Unfortunately, Cameron hasn’t played in our 2019 and 2022 premiership years, but I believe he will bring a steely determination to be part of a successful side in 2023.”

Cameron O’Leary added “I definitely missed the club and the community last year, so it is great to be back on board. Our list is looking very competitive and importantly we have recruited some ripping fellas. I am particularly looking forward to lining up next to “Sticks” Davis and being coached by Sam Schaller for the first time since I was 17!! I’m looking forward to being a gull again and excited to see what the season brings.”
